If I Had Known It Would Be This Easy....

Yesterday morning Daughter asked for money to buy something to drink. I told her to take her sugar free drink. She then told me she owed Super Supervisor .50 for a can of caffeine free diet something that she had taken the day before. It seems SS keeps a refrigerator stocked with drinks they can purchase, and she has caffeine free diet especially for Daughter. I was inspired.
"Every night you don't wet the bed, I'll give you .50 to buy something to drink in the morning."
.
This morning she was dry. I gave her .50. I hope it continues to motivate her. She's chipper this morning, and plans to call Case Manager from the gift shop to tell her about the story that Flasher raped her and got her pregnant. She said if she goes to see her while she's at the workshop, everyone will know what's going on. I haven't had the courage to ask her if she still wants to be with Flasher. I'm just going to savor the victory of a dry bed.

What is going on at the workshop? Doesn't anybody supervise the clients and discourage all the gossiping and crazy stories?
My guess is that your DD is thrilled to be the center of the scandal du jour. She's able to tell her "friends" that the story isn't true and she's through with Flasher. I wonder, given her past history of making up dramatic stories, if she hasn't invented this latest one?
What guy says he will do "whatever it takes" to get a girl pregnant? Usually guys are panic stricken when their girlfriend gets [regnant. It seems like something a girl would say, a girl who wants to hold onto her boyfriend at all costs...

The workshop's top priority is protecting the clients' "rights." Apparently they have interpreted that as meaning they can't do anything to stop the drama.

She could have created this story, but the stories I think are most likely to be fabrication are the ones most likely to be confirmed later by Case Manager. For example, the story that the one guy was threatening to rape her 2 best friends-- they confirmed to Case Manager that they had told Daughter the story-- the guy hasn't been back to get his side of the story.

It's too bad she has to spend 30 minutes there waiting on buses--but at least it's 30 minutes and not all day.

In Miss K's school (the adopted kids' school) they call this bullying and send kids home when they bully. I wonder if this would work out if you made the suggestion? One kid got sent home forever when he wrote on the internet that he'd had sex with another student. These people need to look at the federal law and stop enabling the bullies. Wouldn't you just like to punch them all? or would that be bullying?

Maeve,

There are lots of things I'd like to do, but won't. They see me as a bully. They really don't know what to do with parents who expect them to follow the plan and will call them on it when they don't.

The problem with sending them home is that many of them live in supported living settings. They'd have to fund staff to stay with them if they sent them home.
