Tonight's Phone Call

Daughter called when I was in a meeting. I told her I was in a meeting and to call back in an hour. She did. "They're trying to control my diet! They told me I had to choose a sandwich or a microwave dinner." I told her I thought it was wonderful that they gave her choices. She was threatening to call the cops on the staff. It wasn't possible to have a rational conversation with her tonight. I hung up grateful that she's living there.

she is trying to play some of the same games she played with you. she is smarter than you think. hopefully they will not play. she will not give up her power easily. you will get many phone calls that are similar as she tries to trianglulate.

I am aware of that. At the in-service I told them that Daughter needs to know that they are in charge and they need to be firm with her. I warned them she is very manipulative. Of course, they'll have to experience it before they really understand....

Yeah, call the police; that's sure to endear her to both the staff and the cops.
No wonder staff turnover is so high in many group homes, what with the laughably low pay, physical attacks by residents, false accusations and assorted drama.
Has your DD made any friends there yet?

Miz Kizzle,

Daughter regularly threatened to call the police on me. She never did it. I just ignored her threats.
It depends on how you define friends. She seems to be doing well with the other women. She calls them her sisters. She doesn't seem to talk about any particular woman more than the others.
