Dangerous

I am living dangerously. Tomorrow we will be using the projector we recently purchased in worship for the first time. It will play a video during the offering. It's a beautiful video that fits well with the sermon. Some people will be furious. Some may not stay when they see the screen there. It feels right, so I'm doing it. I'll remind them that this is about living out our vision statement and proclaiming the Good News in new ways. It will be interesting.

Go for it! I think it sounds really positive. Using multi-media stuff can be really great for helping people to connect with God in Different ways. Hope it goes well.

We have multi-media in our church in California, it is wonderful. We use it, when we sing Praise Songs. Go for it! I will be praying that God will soften the hearts of those who apose this tool.

Love, Carol

Thanks. I'm going to do it. This congregation likes the old hymns in 4 part harmony. Many have announced that if we project praise music they will leave the church. I like to say I've dragged them kicking and screaming into the 20th century, and don't have the heart to tell them we're now in the 21st.

The times I am really moved is when our church uses multi-media. I hope your church will embrace it.

What's so awful about projecting praise songs? It's not like you're passing around a box of poisonous snakes for them to handle.
I had the opportunity to visit a new church in our town that had the most incredible multi-media service that I've ever seen.
First of all, the interior of the church was ultra-plush, with very comfortable upholstered pews, soft lighting and beautiful woodwork. Except for the absence of a bar it could have been an upscale nightclub.
Secondly, they passed our TAMBOURINES at the door! And BELLS and sticks to click together to make rhythm.
When it came time to sing, they projected images of rolling surf, clouds, meadows and what-have-you while we all sang, shook our tambourines and clicked our sticks together for all we were worth. It was so much fun!
Now, I won't be leaving my staid, mainline Presbyterian church (the Frozen Chosen!) to join the happy clicking congregating but it was a very enjoyable experience. It doesn't hurt to try new things. I say go for it.

I'd be willing to bet no one leaves when you use it.
