Signs of Spring

Our snow has been melting, and the grass has reappeared. There is still some snow around, and I suspect it will be a while before the mountain of snow they cleared off the parking lot at the church melts, but the stuff up near the house is all gone. I went outside today to check on the window installation, and discovered that I have plants coming up. I don't know if they are the bulbs I planted, or things that the previous owners had planted. I do know that they give me hope that spring is coming. I'm grateful for that hope, especially since we have a winter storm alert up for Sunday. They are predicting 6 inches of snow.
.
My windows are all installed. They completed the job in 6 hours, and I think they did a good job. I am pleased with the way they look. I was concerned, because they are different from the original windows. The original windows were casement windows, and brown on the inside. These are sliders, and they are white on the inside. The only downside is the odor of the caulk.

It was not a pleasant evening with Daughter. I won't get into details, but it was not fun. I'm considering informing her case manager that I'm not able to keep her safe at home any more. She's picking the locks on the pantry doors at night.

YIKES. Sorry to hear that.

Could you use a combination lock? Those are a little harder to get past, I think. (Though, wow, how did your daughter learn to pick locks in the first place??)

Hope things get better soon!

She's determined, I'll give her that. Is this part of her mental problems or an attempt to take control? An attempt to "prove" at least to herself, that you don't love her enough to keep her safe? I don't even know.

How incredibly frustrating for you. Can you put a door on kitchen itself? Door locks are quite a bit different than the locks you described for the cabinets.

Thanks, Corinn and Kristin,

I don't know how I'd get combo locks for the pantry cupboards-- I'll post pictures later. On one combo lock I was careless and she was able to figure out the combo from watching me. I'm wondering if she's figured out the lock on the refrigerator, though I've been trying to be careful.

I'm not sure what's motivating this. I have her therapist's email, so I think I'll email her and let her know what's going on. It could be control, it could be testing. I just wish she would put the cleverness and determination to work for something positive. Again, I'll post pictures, but there isn't a door on the kitchen, and it would be challenging to add one. The area is designed to be open.
